Campbeltown Whisky

Campbeltown Loch - Blended Single Malt Whisky

ABV 46%

A blend of Springbank (Springbank, Longrow and Hazelburn), Kilkerran and Glen Scotia. Bottled at Springbank Distillery. Ex-bourbon and ex-sherry matured.

Nose : Soft stone fruits, and honey with zesty notes of lemon and just a touch of salty brine.

Palate: Slight oily mouth feel. Herbaceous hints creeping in beneath sweet vanilla caramel and juicy baked fruit. Salinity and sweet spice bring balance, with hints of peat smoke.

Finish: Medium finish with balance of sweetness, salty and a subtle hint of smoke.

Rating: 9.4/10

You'd expect a blend to be good, because frankly you're mixing the best of what's available (which in Campbeltown's case is a wealth of riches). But this is truly excellent. Well balanced but complex in flavour.

Glen Scotia - Campbeltown Harbour

40% ABV

Lightly peated and matured in 100% first fill ex-bourbon casks

Nose: A blend of sweet, salty and peat smoke aromas. Sweetness coming predominantly from notes of barley sugar and caramel and salt coming from hints of a costal breeze.

Palate: Similar to the nose, a balance of mild sweet smoke and barley sugar. The salty notes are less prominent.

Finish: Medium to long finish with mellowed dry peat smoke.

Rating: 7.9/10

A nice Campbeltown whisky if not a little simple in it's flavour profile. It is balanced but lacks significant depth when compared to other Glen Scotia releases. However, for whatis often less than £40 this a fair whisky at a fair price.

Hazelburn 10 year old

46% ABV
Ex-Bourbon Cask
Unpeated

Nose
Think tropical vibes — baked pineapple 🍍, lemon sherbet 🍋, honeycomb 🍯, and a zing of dried orange peel 🍊. Light, delicate, and seriously inviting.

Palate
A perfect balance of sweet and savoury. Juicy green apples 🍏 meet a soft vegetal twist, wrapped in creamy notes of pastel de nata and custard creams 🍮. Dessert lovers, this one's for you.

Finish
Smooth and satisfying. Hints of salted caramel 🧂, warming ginger, toasted coconut 🥥, and a whisper of minerality. Earthy elegance in every sip.

Rating: 7.5/10

It's good, but expensive. Worth a try but there are better Campbeltown options.

Rating: 9.4/10
